The government, through the Ministry of Health, has established a large-scale scholarship scheme for Kenyans who want to further their careers.

Scholarships are available for Diploma and Master’s programs for healthcare workers employed by the federal, state, and local governments.

The scholarship will focus on specific priority areas in the health sector as a way to improve the country’s healthcare standards.

The chances will be available for sponsorship over the fiscal years 2021-2022, with an application deadline of October 29, 2021.

Dentists, pharmacists, nurses, clinical officers, medical laboratory personnel, radiographers, medical laboratory personnel, nutritionists, epidemiologists, public health practitioners, oncologists, surgeons, and neurologists are among those who would profit from the opportunities.

To be eligible, a healthcare worker must currently be employed by either the national or county government. They must also have served on a permanent and pensionable basis for a minimum of two years.

How to Apply

Applicants must submit a written application with copies of academic and professional certificates, an identity card or passport, a letter of first appointment, a letter of appointment for their current grade, proof of admission to a recognized institution for the desired course, and the last long course they took.

Those working in the healthcare field in the counties should apply through their local county governments.

Healthcare employees in the national government should send their applications to the Principal Secretary at the Ministry’s postal address.

The scholarships, according to the Ministry, will help the government establish Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and provide professionals to both the county and national governments to deal with a variety of medical conditions.

The UHC pilot initiative was previously begun in Kisumu, Isiolo, Nyeri, and Machakos counties, with plans to expand to other parts of Kenya in 2022.

According to the Ministry, the program will have a good impact on medical research and innovation, allowing for the adoption of innovative ways for controlling diseases in the country.
