Three guards from Komothai girls have been arrested for lynching a 17-year-old boy from Gathurini High school. The 17-year-old form four candidates allegedly lured his friends and sneaked to the girls’ dormitory. The horrible incident that occurred on the night of October 15th led to the killing of the boy after he was caught and beaten by the guards. The deceased passed out and was rushed to the kigamo level IV hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.

The police arrested the three who took their statements and are waiting to appear in court on Wednesday, October 27th.
“According to the girls there heard unusual movements, and they quickly raised the alarm. The boys had tiptoed to the Phoebe dormitory in the middle of the night. But we are yet to determine what their mission was. The screams attracted the teachers and the school guards who rushed to see what was happening.” A portion of the statement from the Directorate of Criminal investigations read.

As the teachers and staff members gathered, one of the guards was able to catch one of the boys. The boy was bitten by the mob. Several tools, including stones, were recovered from the murder scene.

Meanwhile the detectives are on the lookout for the five boys from Gathurini high school who were allegedly in the company of the victim. According to reports, the five boys, together with the victim, slipped out of their school at 4.00 am to the girl’s school. However, upon being noticed, the five managed to flee, leaving their colleague behind where he was seriously injured.

Several lynchings and murders have been reported for the past two months. The most recent one was that of lynching three elderly women from Kisii county who were accused of bewitching a form four students. The three were set on fire and later beheaded.

The directorate of criminal investigations has given a strong warning to the public against taking matters into their own hands. According to kinoti, severe punishment will be inflicted on any person(s) who would be found guilty of committing such crimes.
